Barbara has been working as a teacher since 1976 after qualifying with an honours degree in Education at the University of Sheffield in the U.K. She earned an M.A. in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) from the University of Surrey in 1996 and a postgraduate certificate in SpLD (Dyslexia) from the Hornsby International Dyslexia Centre in 2002. She has a commitment to continuing professional development and completed a certificate course in Psychometric Testing and Assessment and Access Arrangements with Dyslexia Action UK in 2010 and since then has been registered with the British Psychological Society www.psychtesting.org.uk: The Register (RQTU). In the intervening years, Barbara has obtained certificates in Orton Gillingham training, taken a refresher course in Diagnostic Report Writing and courses in the Dyslexia Action Literacy Programme.
Barbara has a friendly, caring, supportive and positive approach to teaching and likes to work as a team with students, parents, teachers and other professionals.
